Patagonians (Big-Footed)

While Magellan was in Patagonia, a giant man who stood 7½ feet tall (2 meters) appeared. He danced and threw sand on his white hair. Magellan realized this was a sign of friendship. Soon other giant people appeared. Magellan called them Patagonians, which was Spanish for big-footed, because they wrapped their feet in animal skins stuffed with straw.
